Back at it again. Happy Thursday to you my beautiful readers! Today, I have the opportunity to have Mr. Dorival as my guest. Mr. Dorival is an entrepreneur, author, mentor and inspirational speaker. He has a lot to share today. So, I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

-Can you tell our readers about yourself?

There is so much to share. I am a game-changing youth chess mentor, Haitian author, relationship coach, and writer. I love serving my people and our community. I have an interesting story to tell about his life from escaping the streets, jail, and death to have successfully worked his way into corporate America; schools and churches love booking me to share my story with teenagers and young adults. Today, I am a living my dream as a top marketing director for a multi-million dollar construction firm in Miami and for my own company, Sky View Creative Circle, LLC. In realizing my passion to push others forward, eventually I began writing a memoir that transformed into a powerful inspirational autobiography, stage play, and now a documentary, “The Courage To Believe: Never Give Up.” All of these are available on his website: www.KevinDorival.com. My highly anticipated and somewhat controversial new book, 7 Types of Queens, Kings Desire, is making history, and was released on July 17, 2017.

Our 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, Courage to Believe International hosts the annual Black on Black Crime Solutions Panel and the C2B Chess Club & Mentoring Program; the board members of the organization helps to make these two programs a success year after year – it wouldn’t be possible without these guys. We are working towards bringing our reading and chess program to Haiti, specifically in Gonaives where my mother is from. With the proper funding and support we will bring our youth programs to other parts of Haiti and in Ghana.

-What was your greatest failure and what did you learn from that?

My greatest failure was my greatest lesson. When I was locked up for an attempted robbery case back in 2001 and it felt like my world came tumbling down. I learned that it wasn’t over – everyone falls and you just have to get back up! With God’s grace I was not only able to overcome the adversity I was facing in my life, but also thrive. It’s so important to share my story to as many people as possible – there are too many people throwing in the towel.

-Who has impacted you the most in life?

Mrs. Wyche, my 5th grade teacher. She forced me to read, read, read and write, write, and write. Mrs. Wyche forced her students at Park Ridge Elementary in Pompano Beach, FL. (South Florida) to think about the future, see ourselves in the future, and plan for the future. I never had honor roll until I reached her class. She was such an awesome teacher that she’ll stop by our houses to make sure that we were studying. I Love that about her!! Her consistency in loving and caring for her students.

-What is your greatest achievement in life?

My 2nd book, 7 Types of Queens, Kings Desire is one of my greatest achievements. It’s taking me to London for the Kings  & Queens Book Tour in the UK from Oct. 1st-9th, and invited to speak in 2018 at women’s conference in New York City at the United Nations Headquarters. Several relationship panels talk shows, and radio shows has invited me to be part of their function. The book can be found on my website: www.7queens7kings.com

-What do you do in your spare time?

I read a lot of books and watch free library movies. I love to clean my office when I get the time. I truly need a maid lol. Go to my main website: www.kevindorival.com to read the list of things “YouDidn’t Know about the Author.”

-You’re well known in the community as a (your title) how do you feel
about that?
I love being seen and respected as a leader. I’ve helped a lot of people through my volunteering and mentoring. I truly care.

– What/ who has inspired you to follow this path?

Being a King, you’re automatically a leader. I learned a lot by reading Johnny Cochran. late great attorney, books. He was my motivator because of his poise under pressure and mission to help his people out as much as possible.

-Describe yourself in one word and why?

Overachiever – I don’t sleep or eat. I just GRIND!!

Any advice for our young people out there?

Speak it. Believe it. Execute the plan. Continue pushing forward until your dreams manifest. Don’t compare your goals and dreams to what you see on social media – learn to distinguish the difference between real life and social media. Get a book in our hands and read your future: write your future!

It’s always a pleasure to hang out with my guest. Don’t forget to stay connected with Mr. Dorival on Twitter, Instagram, and FB.
